Ever imagined why curry leaves are being used in almost all of the south Indian cuisines?This has been used since ages as a flavoring agent , but there are also many health benefits associated with this spice.This spice is native to India and is widely grown almost all over the country.Let's take a look at the nutritional value of curry leavesCurry leaves are rich in carbohydrates, fiber, calcium, phosphorous, iron, magnesium, copper, zinc and some other minerals.It also contains  vitamin C,A,B,E, folic acid, niacin and guess what  fat is nearly zero(0.1 g per 100 g) in curry leaves.O my God So many vitamins and minerals together!!Let's check out health benefits as well:
  • Lower blood sugar levels: It is rich in fibre which helps in controlling blood sugar levels.It is beneficial for people who are insulin resistant as it helps in improved absorption of glucose by cells instead of building up in the blood.
  • Improves Digestion: It has laxative properties (medication which when consumed either induces bowel movements or loosens the stool) that help in relieving constipation and improve digestion.
  • Prevents Anaemia: It is a rich source of iron and folic acid. Anaemia is caused by deficiency of iron and inability of the body to absorb it. Folic acid enhances absorption of iron and as it has both iron and folic acid it helps in preventing anaemia.
  • Keeps your skin young: It has  strong antioxidant properties and is rich in vitamin C which help in keeping skin young.   • Good for Hair:It is effective in reducing hair fall and greying of hair due to its nutritional value.Also, it strengthens Hair roots and cures dandruff.Apart from eating leaves, applying the paste of curry leaves on hair can also be beneficial.
